copyright means that you can stop people from saying something if you said it before. copyright is a case of censorship by it's very definition, and censorship is a crime. many crimes have beneficiaries, and some of the beneficiaries may even be artists or scientists.
and yes, we should value art and science much more than we do currently. but we may do this by giving them inspiraton, supporting them financially and mentally and by sharing their works. it does not give anyone the right to beat, rob and jail people to silence.
